Of all the towns in our region, Sharon has the lowest population with about 400 residents in a town that is made up of almost 16 square miles. Much of Sharon's undeveloped areas consists of town forest land and Residents of the town appear to appreciate and value their substantial open space holdings. Each year the town hosts the "Sharon Town Picnic." A tradition that dates back to 1891! The towns quaint one-room schoolhouse dates back to 1832 and has remained in constant use since. It currently serves as the town clerk's office as well as a meeting place for the selectmen, planning board and conservation commission. Sharon is also home to the Sharon Arts Center's School of Arts and Crafts where extensive training is offered for painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, jewelry making and more. Clearly, the town of Sharon could be considered an ideal location for those that cherish natural beauty, open spaces and also enjoy a sense of community. |
